Biography:

Hailing from the Sunshine Coast, Christina Rzepa was raised in a culture of community music. Stemming from a strong classical background, her musical ambitions have led her to take roads less travelled by cellists – from computer-driven electronic rock with her first band Spark That Screams to dark sultry ballads in her newest solo work and accompaniment to artists like Calvin Arsenia, Orit Shimoni and Tania Gosnach. These experiences have given her a unique flexibility and ear for improvisation.

Christina has been a fixture in the Vancouver music scene for 20 years. Her rich, melancholy tones can be heard on stage, on over 50 studio albums, or at events around the city.  She currently plays with several bands + artists including: garage pop rockers Everybody Kiss! and vaudevillian ad-hoc collective The Creaking Planks.

She has performed as a member of progressive-folk-rock trio The Gentle Infidels, bilingual balladeers Lisabelle,  international accompanists the Earls of Grey, bluegrass fusion troupe the Royal Doylies, and yoga-workshop trio Balanced Output.
