I love playing weddings! Music is such an important factor in setting the mood, and it would be my pleasure to help you find what you're looking for.
I mostly play solo - rates start at $400 for the first hour, which includes rehearsal time, 1 pre-wedding consult.
The first hour typically includes 30 mins of pre-ceremony music, 1 entrance song, music during the signing and some exit music.
Each subsequent hour is $50, and this could be for a longer ceremony or a post-ceremony cocktail reception.
Travel expenses can be negotiated depending on your location, especially now that I live on Vancouver Island.
Solo cello creates a minimalist and elegant backdrop to your ceremony. For weddings and events I play primarily classically inspired music. However, for something more unique I can play solo with a loop station to create experimental layers of string music, like an all in one quartet! This requires a bit more gear (a power source, an amp or PA system, etc), so we can chat about the details, budget and setup of your event.
You can also express yourself through custom music choices. I am happy to create special arrangements of your favourite song to play during your ceremony (for example, I put together an instrumental mash-up of a Bach cello suite with a Death Cab for Cutie song for a friend's wedding) - again we can chat about details and rates for this service.
If you would like more musicians I'm also happy to source them for you! I often play with other musicians and can put together duos, trios and quartets. Some instruments to consider are: accordion, strings (violin/viola/cello), winds (flute/clarinet), piano and guitar. I have played many genres of music for weddings as well including Klezmer, Folk, Rock and Jazz.
Rates for group performances will vary as each musicians have their own requirements.
